Okay, so if you've ever eaten at Chick-Fil-A, you probably noticed at least one sign with the cow who is holding up a bulletin board that says "eat mor chikin". I personally think it's hilarious.
From what I understand, the CEO of Chick-Fil-A, S. Truett Cathy, was recently asked his opinion on same-sex marriage. He replied by letting them know that he did not agree with it. Now, one must understand that this is a Christian-based business. Chick-Fil-A is closed on Sundays to honor the Sabbath day. I can't fathom why Mr. Cathy's response was a surprise. Some cities were trying to keep Chick-Fil-A from opening a restaurant there and everything. From my knowledge, people were really trying to shut the place down because of the CEO's opinion. So, on August 1, there was a National Appreciation Day launched for everyone to go out and show their support for Chick-Fil-A. (Keep reading for my experience!)
One view of the crowd. There's another the same size behind me. |
Originally, I wasn't going to get into all of that, I'm not a very radical person. But then I thought about it: I am a Christian, and this Christian company is getting condemned for standing up for the truth, as I know it; I have to show my support for that.
The line is all the way outside! |
I'm not big on fast food, but I felt that I could put my personal preferences aside for this one day. For me, it wasn't about sexual orientation or what's right and wrong. It was about faith and freedom. It was about doing my part to help keep the tribe alive. It was about freedom of speech, freedom of religion. One day, that freedom may be gone, so I will shout on top of a hill if I have to because I have that freedom. It's bigger than sexual orientation. Don't misunderstand what I'm saying. I love all people, no matter their sexual preference, and so does God. But for me, that's not why I stood in that crowd of people waiting 30 minutes for my food. Someone has to uphold the standard of truth, and if I don't do it now, what makes you think I'm going to do it on the other side? I will stand, and I will support anyone else who decides to stand with me.
Much love,
Rita
Awww. man, I wish I could get one of those. Maybe I should hit up the Chick-fil-A in Manhattan. I LOVE ME SOME CHICK-FIL-A!!!
ReplyDeleteLol, yeah it's a bumper sticker but I'm a little hesitant to put it on my car. I don't really like anything on my car anymore. When I was younger I was into bumper stickers, but not so much now.

ReplyDeleteMy youth pastor said that the Wendy's in our town had a huge sign in front of their restaurant saying, "EAT AT CHIC-FIL-A TODAY!" I thought that was awesome! We can take a stand!
Yes! I heard that many other fast-food restaurants had signs up telling their customers to eat at Chick-Fil-A. That is SO awesome! I love it.
